whitehouse.gov’s open door policy. Even for spiders.

While doing research on robot.txt files, which sit on a web site and tell visiting search engine spiders what pages and directories to skip when they index your pages, I found this article at codeulate.com regarding the new whitehouse.gov robot.txt file.

Two days ago, under the Bush administration, the file listed over 2400 directories that were not searchable on whitehouse.gov. Paranoid much?

Under Obama, one.

I didn’t get a Dr. Pepper but I got the album

I never did claim my free Dr. Pepper when Guns and Roses’ Chinese Democracy launched this past November but I did recent;y succumb to temptation and get the the album itself. After 15 years of waiting, how could I not? I had to at least give it a listen so in case I ever run into Dan again I can say “Ha! It was a turd! Told ya so!”

It’s not quite a turd. There’s actually four or five really good songs on there. I could do without the epic, whiny Don’t Cry/November Rain type stuff though, I just want my rock to rock and I want my metal singers to sound like they have a pit bull on their balls when they scream.

I don’t want them harmonizing with keyboards though.

Shame on you, Axl.
