No audio on my laptop with Linux Mint / Ubuntu : The Solution

I’ve been searching the net trying to figure out why I wasn’t getting audio of any kind on my laptop after installing Linux Mint. For future reference (and for anyone else who stumbles upon this) here’s what fixed it:

  1. Open Volume Control (Double click on icon in menu bar)
  2. Click ‘Preferences’
  3. Check “External Amplifier”
  4. Go to the newly visible “Switches” tab
  5. Uncheck “External Amplifier” there.
  6. Crank some music.

Moe's Southwest Grill and Ice Skating Rink, Rockville MD

OK, so Moe’s has closed after three months of lying having a sign in their window claiming they were closed temporarily while the city did work under the building.

I didn’t go inside, but I don’t see how they can stuff an entire ice skating rink inside the space of a fast food burrito restaurant without the use of some sort of chameleon circuit-like technology.
