Hare Krishna Dinner

hare-krishna.jpgI finally made my way over to the Here Krishna house for Sunday dinner! Well, except it wasn’t Sunday, it was Friday (and again tonight.)

For those of you not in the know, there’s a H.K. temple like, 5 doors down from my house that serves a free vegetarian dinner every Sunday. There’s always tons of gutterpunks that go, as well as your standard fare of hippies and homeless. I always hear how good it is, but it’s a little intimidating to walk into a cult-house and be all ‘gimmie food.’

food.jpgAnyway, they’ve been serving a street-side dinner buffet every night after Jazz Fest from four until eight. It’s basically vegetarian Indian dishes, but they’re really quite tasty. Some sort of red bean dish, curried potatoes and tofu and basmati rice.

There might be something to this whole Here Krishna thing after all. How would I look with a shaved head and ponytail?

  1. I’ve had their food before too. They used to periodically have a sort of parade and street festival, I remember, maybe 10 or 12 years ago?
    The food was always good.

  2. Hey I did a random search on krishna and this was one of the entrys that came up! I was happy to hear that you enjoyed the meal. I think you can feel safe to get food again from us as we like much more when Intellegent people come to visit! This is actually quite an anchient and very cultured cult as you can see even the word culture has cult in it. Nothing to be worried about and I assure you all you need to do is take what makes sense to you and leave don’t need to wear a dress and ponytail. I certanly don’t. Anyway I don’t even know where this little story comes from, could be any part of the world I guess. I am from south africa and I can say that this is just krishna’s way of playing a little joke on you! well thats enough now. I hope you visit again for more good clean food! And nice to meet you in such a funny way take care!
