New one to me

Today, as I was walking into to my front gate I got panhandled by an older black man:

Panhandler: Say, my brutha. Could I bother you for a moment.
Me: Um, sure.
Panhandler: Now, I’m not trying to hit you up for any money.
Me: Ok.
Panhandler: But, you see. I’ve been walking all the way from Canal Street and I’ve got a ways to go, ya see. Now [he lifts his foot] can you see I’ve got this hole in my shoe. [points to foot, through hole in shoe.]
Me: Yes.
Panhandler: My feet are soaked to the bone. Now, I don’t want any money, but…
Me: [Wait for it.... .... busfare... say it... busfare...]
Panhandler:… do you have a clean pair of socks?
Me: (?!) Um. [I then realize I have to do laundry and spent an hour last night unsuccessfully looking for a clean pair of socks for myself.] I don’t have any clean ones. I can give you some dry ones though.
Panhandler Sockfootler: Oh. Now, I ain’t saying you gots nasty dirty feet or nothin’, but you don’t have any clean ones?

Got off of work around 9 and went and got a haircut.. All in all I’m pretty happy with it. I’ve been going shorter and shorter with every cut, hoping to get to the point where I can just buzz it. I had it done once, last year and it looked a little silly. Dare I say it, I’m not quite thin enough on top to go that route yet… The sides look good, but the top just looks stupid if it’s cut too short.

Anyway, then I went and got lunch with Justin, whom I met last night at the Pub before I headed to work. Really sweet guy… who of course flew back home to DC shortly after our meal. *sigh*

I gotta get outta here.


Anyway, my day ended at like, 2pm so that’s all I took. Here’s a picture of my desk at work though. Notice the insane amount of carbonated diet beverage.

OK, I’m not a hater or anything, so yay! the Saints beat the Eagles and are advancing to some KFC Championship for the first time EVAR but jumpin Jesus on a pogo stick straight people are going CRAZY outside my office. Canal street looks like Mardi Gras and there’s cops sirening, cars honking, straights WHO DATTIN and gays clutching their pearls all over the place. Don’t get me wrong.. Yes I’m glad the Saints won. Yes. I know you’re drunk. Now calm down and stop yelling in my face while I’m trying to get to work. bah.

Oh, there are going to be some napkins thrown tonight.
