Not so great times

Anyway, I don’t like talking about troubles in on-going relationships because well, that’s just downright tacky, but for the last few weeks I’ve sensed that things weren’t right in the Vincent/Killer camp. My first tip off was, shortly after the Plan for Redevelopment came about, Killer started talking about not knowing if he wanted to stay in the city. He also mentioned that he was thinking about applying for work out of state. Can you say RED FLAG? I also started noticing that the last few times we went out he wasn’t coming in when he picked me up and then he’d just drop me off. They were late so I wrote it off as being too late to come in. Anyway, we chatted today and it turns out my suspicions were correct, he’s not wanting to date anyone right now. Yep, you guessed it: it’s not me, it’s him.

Anyhoo, no hard feelings. I still really like him and count him as a friend; it’s not like I didn’t see it coming. So yeah, single again. Ugh. Damn you Katrina.

On so many levels.

On the job front, I have a couple of interviews tomorrow. Someplace called the The Lionheart Group replied to my resume witha form letter saying, and I quote:

We have reviewed your resume and feel we may have an interest in scheduling you for an interview. Please take a moment to answer a brief questionnaire that will further assist us in determining if a preliminary match exists between your qualifications and career objectives and our corporate goals.

Interviews will be conducted in Metairie on Monday of next week. To be clear, this position does NOT require a daily commute to Metairie or to our office.

The Lionheart Group, Inc. is uniquely positioned to attract, develop and retain preeminent field and management talent in an emerging industry characterized by high-growth and minimal competition. We specialize in providing business owners and employee groups of all sizes with the finest and most innovative access plans and employee benefits available.

How’s that for rediculously vague and unpromising? The web site only mentions a position in sales for New Orleans.. gross.

On the other hand, someone from Traxx wrote me back saying they need Bike Messengers. Sure, it’s cliche and probably doesn’t pay shit, but it could be fun and hey, riding a bike all day can’t be THAT bad. Besides, I could pretend I’m Kevin Bacon in Quicksilver.

Bicycle Michaels hasn’t called me back about my resume. No one from Monster.com has either. This is really getting frustrating. Either I’m gonna be waiting tables in 2 weeks, or I’m gonna be living off my FEMA money - if it ever comes though. Neither of which are options I want to pursue.

Did you go for the interview with the Lionheart Group? I got the same email.

  2. nolageek Says:

No, I never did. I figured out that they were some sort of work-at-home type thing. Not my scene. :)

  3. teddy Says:

did you ever find out more about this lionheart group? they’ve requested an email but i can’t find crud on the internet about them to back anything up. i ran across your site in the process and hope you’ll either say, “man i’m glad i didn’t do anything, or sonofabitch i should have taken that job.” but anything you do say is helpful :)

  4. sm Says:

It turns out that after further research the lionheart group is no more than prepaid legal recruiting people to work from home and recruit and sale their services to people and businesses

  5. Erik Loebl Says:

I received the following email as well. “Vague” is the correct word. I have read the following “It’s a scam. I interviewed with them and after finding out more, turned the offer down…” from the following link “http://chronicle.com/forums/index.php?topic=25096.msg346356″
I don’t plan to waste my time with them…

the only people who have responded to my resume on monster are scam companies like this. it is SO disappointing. i went to an interview this morning and it was totally shady (dynamic marketing concepts). be careful and don’t get your hopes up for an interview with any company like this - do your research the minute you get a request for an interview. thank god for the internet.

  7. JW Says:

It’s Pre-Paid Legal and requires an investment by you. I don’t recommend it.

  8. Robbie McGuffey Says:

I received the exact same letter from The Lionheart Group when I applied online for administrative and office manager positions in the Atlanta, Georgia area.

I asked for my name to be removed from their mailing list.

Thanks for the heads up ya’ll!

  9. Concerned Says:

LOL LIONHEART IS A MARKETING SCAM
I went to their interview, there was a dozen people scheduled for the same interview time and they are selling a marketing scam. You have to BUY into this “job” that I can’t see any potential for. Its more of a scam then anything. You have to call all these long distance numbers for conference calls, fill out all this profile information and listen to a bunch of Amway like Bs that is in my opinion impossible to make money with.

I am a IT professional and not a marketing goober, it seems they spam all resumes online with the same exact email and no matter how you answer the form questions, you are labeled SPECIAL AND WARRANT FURTHER INTERVIEWS. Its a big joke.

  10. another concerned candidate Says:

I also received the same email as all of you. Sounded shady. Their website was not helpful and I could not find anything of use on the Internet. I figure this must be a scam, and all of you confirmed that. Thanks.

  11. Neil Couvillion Says:

I’m so glad the I googled Lionheart group tonight. I was about to be a sucker! I’m so tired of scam-artists messing with people’s emotions. They looking for a certain kind of person alright…a real jackass. HE to the HAW!

  12. marie Says:

GO to SECInfo- Lionheart Group. Inc SC130/APVC Container Corp for more info. Seems they are not quite on the up and up.

  13. Michelle Says:

I am also glad I googled the Lionheart group today. I received the same form letter you guys received and I’m scheduled to interview with them tomorrow. Needless to say, I will cancel, as I feel my time could be better spent doing other things. Thank you all so much for such valuable information.

  14. Fix Says:

I got one of those canned emails as well and checked out their website, if you could even call it that. Looks pretty worthless to me and I haven’t seen anything but bad things about these people. I may go check out their office since they are located one building over from the one I currently work in… Small world, huh?

  15. Mak Says:

Thanks a lot guys, even i got the same email.

  16. glad for this blog Says:

i am so glad i found this site, i had an interview with these losers tomorrow - I do have some decent interviews with other companies lined up so thank ALL of you for sharing! save on gas money hahaha

  17. wow Says:

    Thanks guess i will cancel.

  18. Anonymous Says:

I was going on Wednesday fron NOLA ot Gulfport. Like everyone else, glad I found this site. Back to Madden 07 and unemployment.

  19. csthopper Says:

Wow the power of blog, how one guy’s blog turns into the sites that exposes Lion heart. I too join the leagues of people who got the monster.com spam from them. Trying to learn more about the company I stumbled on this blog…the rest is history.

I guess I’m lucky cause I posted my resume on monster this weekend and my first call was a legitimate local company that like my resume…Lion heart email came right after that call.

  20. google + this blog rocks Says:

Thanks to all of you for your information on the Lionheart group! I also had an interview lined up with them for next week. Back to the drawing board but at least I won’t be wasting my time with these sh*t heads.

  21. Another one... Says:

I got it too…. Leason of the Day, when responding to job matches, google the prospective firm first before wasting anymore time on the scammers.

If they actually offered consulting to small businesses, they could probably make good money selling and integrating scaled down enterprise resource management solutions.

  22. Luis Says:

One more saved from “The-LionHeart-dessapointment” here….

    Thanks for the headsup..

  23. michele Says:

yes - the internet rocks. i’ll be cancelling my interview with the lionheart group.

  24. Carl Says:

Well we got an invitation today also. As we had to do some travelling to their area, we decided not go after reading your blogs and the internet posts.

  25. A. Trendl, editor HungarianBookstore.com Says:

Lionheart looks like one of those mortgage/insurance spammers that prowls Monster and Careerbuilder looking for fresh meat. Anyone who updates their resume - thereby making it fresh (Monster has a ‘renew’ button) will get hounded by these guys. Lionheart is hardly the worst of them. I get them from someplace called UGA, and even Geico. Tell them to stop, and they do not listen — hence it becomes spam. Can’t block ‘em, because they use Monster and Careerbuilder as fronts, using the job board e-mail address. Block them, and you will miss genuine e-mails.

  26. Uncle Teaks Says:

Well, it pays to do your homework. Consider my interview cancelled. Thanks for the heads up all.

  27. Scotty Says:

Thank you all. I just got the same stupid email from Lionheart. Glad I found out before wasting my time.

  28. Reggie B Says:

I received the same e-mail as the rest of you guys. At first I thought I could use the extra income. These Louisiana auto insurance rates are killing me. But since LionHeart appears to be a scam I’ll continue working on Sundays and looking for income before and after practice.

  29. Reese T. Says:

Well, well! Looks like someone from that Lion heart group needs to check out the internet blogs on their own ill-will success stories. Here I am in Atlanta, new to the un-employment world and next in line for what appears to be an obvious scam/slam. I guess if they had spent more time on not using such big words in their ads they may have found more time to find some integrity and great people who might possibly work for them….

Which makes me wonder just who and what type of people ARE working for them??? *Thanks to all of those before me that had enough courage and integrity to forewarn others!!

  30. Josh Says:

Thank you all for your comments on the Lionheart Group. I had an interview scheduled with them today. But in light of all of your comments, I think I’ll save myself the long drive. I knew it sounded a little too good to be true.

  31. MRD Says:

Yep, just cancelled an appointment myself due to this blog … I knew something was up when I visited that “Web site” … so vague … I looked over it, but came away more confused about what this “company” was all about than before I visited it … oh, well … back to the ol’ drawing board … :)

  32. skeet Says:

Lionheart Group has 75 Better Business Bureau - PA violations in the last 3 years.

F these douchekits. Funny that I found this blog when I, too, googled the company for more information.

    More unemployment. Hooray.

  33. Kaleem Says:

Thanks for the heads up. I was going to this interview on monday. I guess my saying goes. “If their website sucks and has no info, don’t go”

    thanks again bloggers

  34. cosmo Says:

It is just a front for “Prepaid Legal Services”, a pyramid shaped law insurance plan. My brother is entrenched with them- totally brainwashed!

  35. Laura Says:

I received their e-mail last week and was rushed, so quickly filled out their questionnaire, which was very odd. Today I received the e-mail again, so I took time to Google. In addition to this site, I found info about them with the SEC, USDA, Chronicale of Higher Education, scam.com, etc.

Thank you for confirming my gut feeling!

  36. Brian Says:

I am glad I googled as well. I did send them my resume’. Hopefully that won’t cause me any trouble.

  37. Brenda Says:

I just got the same email from LionHeart and, noticing how vague it was, decided to Google it - boy, am I glad I did! This company is apparently nothing but bad news. I definitely won’t waste any more time pursuing their “opportunity” THANKS!

  38. Nikki Says:

I am so glad I did more research on Lionheart. This blog and other research helped me to decide to cancel my interview with them. What a scam!

  39. rick Says:

Thanks for the heads up on Lionheart, they contacted me through monster and thanks to the info here i will not be wasting my time on an interview.
    Thanks again

  40. Jesse Says:

Thank goodness for sites such as this…I was ready to go for an interview…I just posted my resume on Monster this morning and this afternoon I get the LIONHEART Group e-mail….Thank you

  41. reb Says:

Thanks guys, not unemployed yet but looking for a new job far away from my ex husband/coworker, got the same bogus stuff from lionheart. Guess I’ll be cancelling my interview for next Tues. Glad I clicked on the next page to find this spot. Bless the bloggers of the world.

  42. christina Says:

I got an email from Lionheart group. I’m employed, but not that desperate. I am on my blackberry looking at your blog. I google’d the company’s name just like a lot of other people did. This was the first blog listed. Thanks for posting your opinion. You may have saved a lot of job seekers time, money, and energy. Thank you!!

  43. Murray Says:

Same email sent to me in Minneapolis. Was interesting enough to check into, but had a ‘distinct oder’. They don’t mention anything about ‘investment’ in their solicitation. Thanks to all your comments, now I know my nose did not betray me. -Thanks.

  44. Taylor Says:

The internet is the bomb! I’m so glad I googled this website, because Iwas about to waste about $20 in gas to go to their stupid presentation. Thanks for the heads-up.

  45. Jennifer Says:

Yes, the internet is a bomb….This is unbelievable. At least they could put some originality into their initial email. I put off another job interview to schedule this one. Am I an idiot or what? It did save me $ on gas, but I guess I spent more than that on paper preparing for my interview. Oh well. Thanks to all that posted.

  46. John Says:

Wow…this is interesting reading. I went to the interview today and I thought it was an awesome opportunity. Have a friend who works with Kroll..killer company, and have met several very successful people in PPL, on who earns one million plus ( been to his lake house..iWt is sweet)? Researched both companies and they look great! I am looking for a chance to be independent and not have to constantly be searching for a job though which it sounds like most of the comments here are looking for.
Good luck everyone and thanks for the posts!

  47. Robyn Says:

Thank goodness I googled Lionheart and found this blog. I would have wasted a 60 mile round trip for this bogus waste of gas!

  48. Chuck Says:

It’s really interesting to see how a little bit of misinformation can turn into a lot in a relatively short period of time.

I never thought I’d have reason to take time for blogging - much less on a blog called “Not so great times”, but a number of folks have been led here by google so I’ll take a few minutes to set the record straight.

First - we are recruiting professional business to business sales representatives and those who may wish to be. This is NOT a traditional job, it is an independent representative position - in some ways similar to becoming an independent real estate agent or independent insurance agent.

Second - only a very small percentage of the candidates we review ever get invited to interview with us. We use a very extensive mult-phased interview process to find the right match for our needs.

That process begins with us reviewing hundreds of resumes in search of certain leadership characteristics, people skills and career experiences that indicate the likelihood of a potential fit. We then utilize a compatibility profile designed to identify those who may be suitable for a commission based professional sales career.

Our profile is also designed to separate out those who are looking for a traditional hourly job with a salary and benefits. These are obviously not a fit as we are looking for those who want to build an independent career of their own with no limitations. The only candidates invited to an interview are those whose resume and profile responses indicate a high probability for a match.

Regarding Pre-Paid Legal - yes, they have a network marketing division with an excellent part-time, “friends and family” type business opportunity. We are not a part of that division.

As an independent agency, we have a marketing relationship with Pre-Paid Legal’s Group Benefits and Small Business marketing division. Our agents deal with business owners and decision makers in the group benefits arena. We help companies to reduce to mitigate their risks in light of the latest identity theft laws. While network marketing is a fantastic part-time opportunity for many, our agents are looking for full-time income replacement.

There is absolutely NO investment required for a person to become an agent with us. An agent can function as a “writing agent” and market only our identity theft benefit to companies (which requires no licensing or special certifications). Our agents also have the option to become a fully licensed pre-paid legal agent with the ability to market legal plans to companies, which would require a registration fee to Pre-Paid Legal ($49 at the time of this writing). About a dozen states require that a person have a special license to market pre-paid legal plans. For example, Texas is one of those and the fee is $30 per year. There are additional optional certifications that an agent may choose to obtain over time.

Our first interview is conducted in a group setting. All other interviews are conducted one on one with a member of our executive team. We do this because it is an important part of our evaluation process to see how a candidate will interface with others in a group setting. Our agents deal with employee groups of varying sizes every day.

We have never operated under the name of Dynamic Marketing concepts, so I’m not sure what Amy was referencing.

The only long distance number a candidate would need to dial (assuming they moved on to the second phase of our interview process) would be to get on a one hour conference call with me for a question and answer session (which I do with each group of candidates). We certainly hope that’s not an issue for any of our candidates.

Marie referenced an SEC action involving APVC Container Corp - that’s got nothing do with us. We have no reason to do business with container companies, nor have we ever had any SEC involvement or litigation as a company.

Responding to A. Trendl’s post - we can easily block anyone’s resume in Monster that requests it. We do it every day. All that a candidate need do is reply to the email with a request to be blocked and you’ll never hear from us again. We have no interest in sending email to those who don’t want to receive it.

Skeet said that we have 75 Better Business Bureau violations in Pennsylvania in the last 3 years. We don’t even do business in Pennsylvania. Again, wrong company.

Laura said she found mention of us on the SEC’s website. We’re not a public company. We’ve never had any contact with the SEC in any fashion. She said we were mentioned on the USDA’s web site - we are not a food manufacturer and we have no dealings with the US Department of Agriculture. She said we were mentioned in the Chronicle of Higher Education - again, we’re not an educational institution nor are we in the education business. Wrong company. She mentions us on scam.com - we may be. Anyone can post what they want on the internet.

My intent is not to provide a full education on who we are and what we do on a blog or anywhere else on the internet. We are a unique company with a strong opportunity for the right professional, and our executive team does an outstanding job of unfolding that in our interview process.

I hope this has been helpful and that it will encourage the right candidates to show up for their interview as scheduled.

    Best regards,

    Chuck Siegel
    CEO/Executive Director
    The Lionheart Group Inc.

  49. Vincent Says:

I have decided to close replies for this thread. Chuck was nice enough to come by and tell us a little more about Lionheart and I’m going to leave it at that.
